What do they mean?

able能夠……的adjective（比較級abler，最高級ablest）

be able to do something表示“能夠做某事”；able形容人時，表示“能幹”，反義詞為unable，但它不可修飾名詞。

• If you stand on this bench， you should be able to see over the wall.

如果你站在這張長椅上，你應該可以看到牆外面了。

• The abler students were given a harder exercise to do.

能力較強的學生，做的練習難度要高些。

• People who are unable to swim are in danger of drowning.

不會游泳的人有溺死的危險。

ability能力noun

ability表示“人、動物或機器進行某事的能力”。

enable使……能夠verb

enable表示“使人或物具備做某事的能力”。
